and YOU!

(See Attached File: Schedule of Events)

This is a new, different, and 100% participatory event designed for every kayaker, from novice to expert.  Sit on shore no more -- you're going paddling with the pros!

Saturday will begin with a class II amateur boatercross race in which the pros will do their level best to knock racers off-course and into obstacles.  It's roller derby, river style!

Following will be one Men's and one Women's downriver race on an easy stretch of class II water.  If you swim across the finish line, it still counts!  Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate, regardless of experience level.

After you swim across that finish line, sign up for the free roll clinic at Henningsen Lotus Park.  (Just don't stay too late, or you'll miss the awesome after-party; see below.)

Finally, on Sunday, our premiere event, the "Poker Race," will be run down the class III+ "Gorge" and is designed to challenge even the experienced boater.  Our pros will be lurking in a series of approximately 15 eddies, in which racers will have to stop to fetch a numbered poker chip.  Among those who collect the most poker chips, the fastest time will determine the winner.

Saturday night we're planning a buffet dinner (location tba), followed by a video premiere and party with the pros.  We'll be passing out awards for the day's races and raffling off some fabulous prizes.  (Rumor has it, there may even be a kayak or two up for grabs!).  Sunday afternoon, we'll BBQ and have the awards for the Poker Race.  (Can we convince our guest stars to hang around for some playtime on Monday, too?  Only time will tell . . . .)

All in all, it promises to be a fantastic weekend, so save the dates!  We will be posting a web site and announcing more details (more pro paddlers; prizes; how and where to register; and so forth) soon!
