I've been using hand paddles for the past few months and love them! I can roll more easily than I ever have and feel a lot of stability. The downside, of course, is having less power and I'm really having to alter my paddling style--think further ahead, edge more. etc.
I've noticed there are no resources for hand paddlers. I'd like to take some one-on-one instruction but I'd really like someone who is not going to try to push me back into a paddle yet. I'd also like someone who will actually use hand paddles to model. I've also talked to other hand paddlers and have found others who'd be interested and no one knows of any videos or books specifically for this or hand-paddle instructors.
I have no desire to go back to a paddle in the immediate future, although I realize I eventually I might run some stuff that I'll need a paddle for. That's a way off and hand paddles will work for everything within my skill level and the next level up. (So please don't respond and tell me to get a stick!)
Love to know if you know any hand-paddling instructors! I also wish there was a video specifically for this. Know any? Know someone who can make one??
Thanks! Amanda |
