* Also for that tentative significant other, the bar & restaurant has wi-fi.  I believe it was free.  So you can get in the water and play a few hours while he/she is relaxing in their own way.  The bar's patio overlooks the competition channel.

* There are no strainers, no undercuts, so that perhaps takes away a little of the realism perhaps but it is an awesome place for a beginner to get upside down and know your not about to meet the unexpected.

* The eddies terrified me the first couple of minutes but after one or two runs you learn to work with them.

My skill set:  I went to USNWC with only 3 combat rolls to my name.  I'd done Nanty 5 times, Tellico Ledges and LRC Chairlift both only once at low flows and still hadn't done the Ocoee.

The USNWC kicked my butt.  I swam my first time out when an eddy re-circulated me sideways into the hole above M-Wave.  The water was much pushier than I had previously experienced.  I got back in and started a long weekend of fun!  I came home with 30+ more rolls under my belt and a heck of a lot better kayaker.  I had only one other swim and that weekend and it was after three successful rolls on my way down the course.

That trip was in March and to the best I can recall, I haven't swam since.  *Knock on wood*  We're all between rolls right?
