and someone who has only paddled the Saluda and the Nantahala is most likely not ready for it. There are too many severe hazards even outside of Five Falls.

Sorry to be harsh, but if I have to explain to you why section 4 is a poor reccomendation for someone looking for the next step from the Nanty AND still perfecting their roll, then that shows me that you have very poor judgement.

I'm not saying that he couldn't make it down, I'm saying that there are much better options for the next step, and section 4 doesn't belong in this conversation.

To answer your question about my progression, by the time I ran section 4, I had run Upper Green, Pigeon, Noli, Ocoee numerous times. Plus I had run Wilson Creek, Lower Big Creek, and probably a few more I'm forgetting. I know I could've made the move sooner, but why when there are better, safer options to step it up on?
