Nearest landline phone for the Nolichucky Gorge? Either one of the houses near the put in, or all the way at the takeout - the campground there. Might be best to flag down a train and see if they can contact help.
The lower Nolichucky is a bit easier. Some providers will even have cell service. Most of the runs are roadside, or within a short walk of the road, with houses near enough to access a phone there.
