George, meet Chris.
Harjes, meet George.
You guys have probably crossed paths at some point previously, and you've got friends in common who think the world of both of you.
Harjes, George is a paddling buddy of mine and Dan's from the ATL area; he and I were paddling together before Dan and I even met, I think we even ran Cheoah together THE weekend my wonderful hubby and I first crossed paths!
George, Chris is a great old pal of Dan's: they've done a bunch of these California expedition trips together (Harjes'd be the scrappy blonde fella with the crazy golden mane and huge smile from Dan's pics and slideshows?).
It seems to me you guys are both looking out for benevolent causes here, but I think there might've been a few wires crossed in the way it was conveyed? I know George has put in many hours and much effort towards Chattooga access issues, and during the course of that particular dispute, it came out that Park Service was monitoring BT for insight into boater activity and opinions. George was probably just illuminating the fact this has proved problematic before. And while West Prong and Chattooga are definitely different ranger districts, if there's still any oversight going on, these fellas are probably only a phone call apart.
That's all I really believe George was trying to illuminate.
But, we DO call "Grumpy George" Grumpy George for a reason, Chris!!
Ole AbbeysWay can be VERY straightforward at times (the Edward Abbey reference in his screen name *could've* been a dead giveaway, no?), but we still love him nonetheless!

And Harjes, before I go, please let me go ahead and thank you for taking the initiative and stepping up to bring this effort together.
You two are both doing great things (and have been for some time) on behalf of the boating community, even if the communication broke down this one go-round.
So y'all play nice.
And if I catch any more fighting going on over there, so help me, I WILL turn this car around and we'll just go straight home from here. Do I make myself clear?
