Most of the runs above are not 3-4 hrs from Sac, and they are definitely not listed in any sort of order.

For a progression to class V boating, maybe Chamberlain, SYuba, NStan to McKay's pt, Giant Gap, Cherry Creek....something along those lines.  I'm not really sure where SSilver fits in.  Steeper and lower volume than those.  Pauley is probably decent prep for it.

If you can expand your zone a little bit, Brush Creek in the Kern is absolutely perfect for getting used to low-volume, steep, granite creeks.  It's short, you can lap it, there is very little danger, and it's fun as a passed out stripper.

It won't really make you a good "under-pressure" boater, but there are some good boofs, good slides, and a couple nice drops.
