I was warm all day with 3 layers on the legs and core with wool socks and booties. Feet were wet but warm all day.  If it was a core temp problem, does it make sense that the feet were warm but hands were cold?   Did not use my head liner because of all the physical exertion of the 7 hour trip (hike-in, scouting, safety, portages and boating).  I had extra layers and a head liner in the dry bag but never felt like I needed them. I think the intensive aerobic workout from the uphill portage rewarmed my core and maybe that helped rewarm my hands in combination with the fleece gloves.
