At what age did some of the older paddlers feel like they lost a step (or blade)? I've always had a hard time getting to paddle due to rotating work schedules and everything else that goes with life. Just when I get to a point that I want to step up a little, I go 6 months without being in my boat and it seems that I'm starting over.
I started dating my current women during the drought last year so the chances for paddling were slim to begin with. Now she's freaking out that I want to paddle this spring and trying to place a limit on the amount of times to paddle. Also she's using the "I want to learn to kayak" statement that will all but kill the spring paddling season for me.
I'm seriously considering getting out of the relationship to enjoy paddling while I can. I don't want to look back on life and say, "I wish I would have paddled more instead of ..... with her." For the married paddlers, how often on average do you get to break away from the married life and go paddle? How many times a month on average? How many relationships has paddling cost you? |
