Open Boats......Open Boats.....As far as the eye can see...

There were between 40-50 plus or minus open boats on the Telico ledges today.

It was my first trip down, and I seriously can’t believe it has taken me this long to get to there.  Gotta list the highlights as I remember:

• Got to the put in and saw 3 different versions of Frankie Hubbard’s Spanish fly.  Never got the pleasure of meeting him, but It’s great to see the legend live on.  I’ve always heard good things about Frankie.
• Paddled with guys that I learned tecniques from by reading their book over and over and over.  Paul and Mark.  (Unfortunately I didn’t talk to them much…)
• 2 really good boaters were paddling with their fathers, Eli and Dooley.  Awesome!!.
• A whole freakin family paddling down the telico in open boats.  I don’t know names.  But there was a little kid maybe 10-14 years old (put in below diaper wiper). A young girl (maybe 16 or so years old.... good boater), and mother and father (I think) it’s difficult to tell who is who when you don’t know anyone.  But awesome none-the-less..
• Met so many Canadians, I want to go up there and boat this summer.

I’m really glad to be part of the community.  I think ALF is a great festival.

BTW- I was paddling the prophet.  Probably one of the longest boats out there today.  No, I didn’t bring a camera, but saw plenty people snapping away.
