I would consider going earlier in the season not later. It is the case that sometimes flows go really high in CR, but many of these runs can be run higher without significantly increasing difficulty. Of course they can get really hard also, but when you go with a flexible and knowledgeable outfitter, trips can be changed to go to rivers that might not have gotten too much rain. On the other hand once a river is too low, it's too low. Most of the non-national outfitters run trips at the tail end of the rainy season during october november and december. There are great outfitters (I may be partial to one) operating in this still fantastic destination. Don't give up, just know before you go!
