Good points, all. Since we generally go in conjunction with a stay at Zancudo beach, I don't know how feasible the rainy season will be. I've been to Ecuador twice and loved it both times, so for now that's my first choice for a return visit.
I'm also concerned about the dams they're planning to erect on the Pacuare and Toro rivers. They've already cut out a large part of the Reventazon, and I guess Costa Rica's export priority is now shifting from palm oil, coffee and pineapples to electrical power instead. At the rate they're going, it sounds like a lot of the good whitewater will be gone soon. |
