at festivals and events I tend to pick up other items (on sale or spur of the moment) but typically the boats, skirts, and big stuff come local if for no other reason than Bernie and Jeryl are top notch folks and I like to support them. I have a mixed bag of stuff though as far as where it came from - sometimes an online closeout is too good to pass up and the NRS or other gift certificates at the holidays (from folks that don't know of the local shop) aren't going to be let go to waste. Also remember you local shop provides more than gear typically - in many cases they are the source of scheduled water releases, sponsors of schools and training programs, and support for AW - all the benefits of which come to you at no cost. That alone is worth handing over that extra little bit of $ (at least if you like your local scene or the Army Corp water releases you may depend on).
