No one could ever get close to a million days paddled.

the average kayaker is possibly going to drive, say, 500,000 miles in his/her life, which puts them at an expected .76 fatality rate.

Whereas with boating the average kayaker will be doing good if he/she goes 1000 times in a lifetime, which yields a .029 death rate.

This means that the average kayaker, based on my crude figures, is about 26 times more likely to die in their car than on the river.

Drive safely
