I think it depends on the kid and the rapid.  I know I was a heck of a lot more "concerned" with Brad running Entrance Rapid on the Chattooga at low water (I think 1.2 on the Bridge) than Baby Falls at 1.6 or so.  I know some rate Baby Falls as a V, but I'm not so sure that all "Vs" are the same if we accept that it is a V.

There are plenty of IVs that I wouldn't encourage or allow Brad to run.  I would probably be "more" OK with him trying Hydro on the Watauga at a reasonable level or maybe even Stateline Falls.  For that matter, even Boxcar on NFFB.  Likewise, I wouldn't be ok with him running Zwicks or Boofer on the Green anytime soon or a couple of the Watauga IVs that contained obvious pining spots - Bump and Grind and Knuckles, come to mind.  For me, it has to do with the downside and if it all goes SOUTH, can the safety actually take care of the kid.

This is my .02, your mileage may vary.

Milton

PS:  With that said, they got to want to run it and you've got to have several layers of safety.  Also, Brad at 115 lbs isn't all that little any more.  Sigh.  ;-)

note Miscommunication on my part...I wasn't saying Baby Falls is a V. It's a IV. HarrisonMetzger New
