Can't see any parent - or any responsible person - letting a kid do things they themselves are not very, very comfortable with. That just makes sense.
One family might be horrified when their child wants to drop a 5' kicker on the blue slope - and should be. But the local ski-town family might tell the child "I've got a 10'er in the trees with a softer landing we should try a couple times first''.
Maybe everything changes when it's your child, but look how many kids free-ride Mt. Bike, take huge jumps on snowboards, race motocross, or hunt with guns while everyone around is drinking. Make your own choices with your own kids within your own experiences.
