Unless you're trying to be the next world champion, and learn Mcnastydoodleflips on waves, and hugebumblewacks in holes, the little shorts boats of today give up a hell of a lot. They do these new fun moves better than any, but the price is a total sacrifice of all other aspects of paddling - speed, grace, glide...

The Thruster is a nice compromise between the Short poppy boats and the Pintail. It has more of the speed/grace/glide than most of todays short boats, but, not as much as the Pintail. On the Other hand, it's a step closer to the modern method of "competitive freestyle" paddling.
