Plus you can ELF the Cascades- soon you'll have the upper section, and West Tuck. Don't forget the new whitewater park they are coming to build too- if I move from Knoxville area it will probably be to go there. It's right next to Cheoah (the next Ocoee), Yellow Creek, Santeetlah, Slickrock, Snowbird, Tellico, Ocoee...Tuck....the list is very comparable to Knoxville.
We (K-towners) have quick access (2-2.5hrs) to watersheds in WNC on the north and south side of Cherokee National Forest, Smokies, Cumberland Plateau. Knoxville and Robbinsville  are pretty even to me as far as water is concerned- it's the job market that keeps me in Knoxville- and it ain't much. If I could get health care insurance working as a raft guide I'd do it.
