note Best outdoor cities?Portland vs Seattle vs Bellingham vs Boise? New

So I'm starting to look for places to live when I get done with school in Dec. I'm looking for the best outdoor city: good boating, climbing, skiing, etc. Would love to hear about the cost of living, public transportation, number of boaters in the area, etc. Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like it would be a 45 min. drive to the river for any city. How is Everette Wa? It looks like it is in a position between Seattle and Bellingham. Are there smaller towns around those cities that I should look at? I really do not know anything about Boise other than it is the closest city to the NF Payette.

Am I missing any good towns? Hood River and Asheville are already on the list and am familiar with them.

Thanks,
Russell
