	Since the driver is also running up the mileage on their vehicle, it's reasonable for the passengers to pay a little over the cost of gas. It's also nice if the passengers bring decent beer or lunch and offer to drive on the next trip. I usually am the passenger since my usual boating buddy has a better river vehicle. I make sure to bring beer and pay for my share of gas plus a bit extra.
