I can shop at an Apple dealer AND buy the product there that day without the hours on the internet comparing prices and shipping options and customer service reviews. I like getting the product I want when I want it without feeling like I wasted a lot of money for the convenience.
The problem is that there aren't enough Apple stores and I still have to drive to Nashville to check em out. I see this as a lot like Kayak dealerships - it's a long way to go look at kayaks so it just makes sense that even smart shoppers should strap their new boat on the car instead of going home empty-handed to buy on the internet and wait for delivery.
I want a fair price. I don't want to find out my buddy got it for 150$ less just by working the sales guy for an hour and suggesting he will be buying lots more this season for his 'kids'. I like Apple products and I really like the convenience that their uniform pricing provides.
The JK price structure attempts to allow local dealers to provide local service to it's local customers - they can drop buy and sit in a boat and ask lots of questions right there - then BUY right there as well without wondering what ARC will sell them the boat for...
For those that don't have a local dealer or don't like the customer service they get at one dealer, the next one down the road will have the same boat at the same price. So will CKS, NOC, Rock Creek, CCK, etc. It's just easy that way.
