Maybe someone more herpetologically inclined could shed some brighter light on the issue but I don't think that copperheads are really all that into swimming. The do however have a non-poisonous relative commonly referred to as a Brown Watersnake that looks an awful lot like a copperhead, so much so that it is difficult to tell the difference without getting close enough to see if it is a pit viper or turning it over to look at the pattern on it's belly scales. Look out for the copper colored vipers on the banks, but I doubt you will encounter on in the water. |
