I'm cool with non-poisonous snakes although I'll scream like a little girl if I don't know they're going to be there. Re poisonous snakes, if they stay out of sight, that's fine, but if I find one near my house, I'll probably kill it. Kids across the street, plus my dog poops in the back yard. I don't want her stepping on one and getting bitten if I can help it. Of all the poisonous snakes, the one I'm least likely to kill would be a copperhead, but still...

If you have a king snake in the area, they eat other snakes and will actually target poisonous ones because those tend to be fatter than non-poisonous. More bang for the buck of making the effort to catch and eat them, and the kings are tolerant to the poison.
