The older ones get kind of ruddy but the young ones look bright like a copperhead, unless you see a real copperhead

Banded water snakes can look a lot like copperheads and are often killed unnecessarily.

Are there c-heads that look more like that water snake? Because the color patterns in those two photos look nothing

The color bands are very similar between a young banded water snake and a copperhead. The banded water snakes get bigger than the average copper head and will bite if picked up, and it hurts. They have no fangs so the bite is more of a cut.
