The watersnakes here in WNC, which I have always heard called "banded water snakes," go pretty far south.  We saw one on the Salto in Mexico that looked exactly like the ones here.  I got within about 3 feet, so I'm pretty sure.

I'm not sure if it's a banded one or northern one.
