Copperheads have the hourglass - skinny in the middle, wide on the ends - easy to remember it's dangerous because black widows have hourglasses on them too... Watersnakes (the ones that you might say resemble copperheads) have a pattern that is wide in the middle, skinny on the sides. So - hourglass = dangerous reverse pattern = harmless easy
