question Do you have to be somewhat self centered to be a whitewater paddler? Some of my boater friends with a non paddling... New

spouse or significant other have all been accused of being self centered. My wife has told me on several occasions that I seem to put myself first. I just don't see it. Could it be that the non paddling people in our lives are resentful that we have something that we are so passionate about in paddling, that they mistake it for self centeredness? Thoughts please.
