I always ask myself if paddling will be more fun than watching sitcom re-runs on TV.
For the Haw if it is above 1,000 cfs the answer is pretty much always yes. Ran the middle and lower today after work. Not a lot of play at low levels but still great exercise. At lower levels it is fun to pick your line between the rocks and obstacles. We ran the far left of the river most of the way - don't normally run that part of the river so it was like a brand new river. Between rocks and trees it was a challenge just to find a clean route on parts of the middle Haw.
I prefer the Haw at 3,000 to 5,000 cfs but sometimes you have to take what you can get. Today was like that - I would have run the lower Rocky if I had the daylight after work (it was running today) but the Haw was a nice way to spend the evening just the same.
Shoot me an e-mail if you want to run the river in the evening sometime.
