I have a Lightning Freeride and the blades are HUGE compared to anything Werner has, I've not seen another paddle that comes close seriously.
I don't think Lightnings are made anymore but if you hunt around you should still be able to find some dealers that might have stock left....that being said the rumor mill has that Lightning sold it's design patterns to Robson and when I was looking for paddles the Robsons did in fact look exactly like the Lightnings (other then color), not sure if they are build the same way. I've had my Freeride for 3 yrs and use it for everything, creeking, etc...It's held up great. I love the power and the bracing is great- I feel horrible paddling without...kinda like a crutch in a bad way- no other paddle can live up to it's performance.
