question Toyota Tacoma Questions New

From: Otter

My Subaru, at 8 years and 135,000 miles, has reached the point where repairs exceed the cost of a car payment, so I am getting a new vehicle.  I am thinking a Toyota Tacoma.  I haven't driven a truck in over a decade, so I don't really know what all I should consider when picking one out.

Here are the spec I am considering.

New vehicle. (I like to buy new and keep the car for the entire useful life of the vehicle)
Double Cab
Auto
V6
2wd (I live in the southeast and do almost no off road driving.)

What else should I consider about a Tacoma?   Is the long bed the way to go?  What about bed liners?  Where's the best place to get a nice shell?  Any other options that are worth the money?  What about suspension packages, is aftermarket the way to go here?

Thanks for any input.
