Less consumption all across the board = less pollution. The downside...at least until there's a shift in lifestyles and passive solar is utilized more, is that in temperate locales, there'll be a huge surge of wood stove usage. This in itself isn't necessarily bad but the inefficient homes they'll be used in and the way stoves are used will be. Besides all the trees we'd see coming down for firewood, people will be throwing anything that'll burn inside these things, including garbage, which, is already a big problem in some areas.

In those sort of situations, I'd hope that in time, people could smarten up and adapt to healthier practices. Of course, one would think we would have figured many of these things out already........
