question Prijon Hurricane New

I have an old Prijon Hurricane that has hung around from being my first boat. Then(10+ years ago) I might have weighed 130, and it seemed like a pretty good boat at the time. Now I'm more like 170 and am a bit nervous about its performance. Only time I've had it in the water was about 30 minutes ago on a lake since I moved to shorter boats. The stern seemed to be slicing through all the time and the bow would almost go under while paddling backwards. Seemed to leak quite a bit, a couple inches around the legs after 20 minutes on a lake.

For those of you that still have one, or have fond memories of paddling one, can you give me some recommendations about paddling one at my current weight? Am I just going to sub under everything? Is it even worth bothering trying to join the long boat revolution with something that is comparatively small for my weight? Just hard to pass up the free boat in my garage. It was definitely fun going fast, even if it was only for 20 minutes on flatwater.
Thanks,
Trevyn

note 170 isn't an outlandish weight for a Hurricane. You should be used to fore-and-aft lean control from your short boats. ezwater New
