	I didn't believe it either and didn't do it a few times when I needed a new tire.  A $1,500 repair later and the mechanic was more than happy to say we told you so.  In the end, I think it's cheaper to not replace the tires (if you need to replace a tire early in their expected life).  The cost or replacing the tires is about the same as the mechanical repairs necessary if you end up needing those (which you clearly might not).
