I only have a specific issue with zero feather because I don't like the wing effect while under water. I find it easier to feather one blade at a time while setting up underwater moves.
Other than that go with an offset that you can get used to.
I paddled 60 degrees for years, then after the entire industry shifted to 45 degrees I just gave up and went with it. It took me a few months to adjust.
Now I use a 30 degreee H2O paddle and though it took some time to adjust, I enjoy it now. I still trip up on occasion, but only when I'm goofing around in a play hole at the bottom of the run.
I tried a 12 degree offset and it's too close to zero for my taste. I think the entire paddle acts like a wing and gets bossed around under water too easily. Seems that setting up play moves would work ok, or squirting too, but it trips me up too much for that quick creeking roll to happen well.
I'm sure that you'll get all sorts of differing opinions on this one. Are you able to try out some 30 degree paddles at your local run? I'm sure that someone has a paddle you can borrow.
