I am constantly amazed at the quality of people in the paddling community. It seems that we’re always there for each other whether it’s just a ride to the put in, leading folks down new runs, sharing the ‘refreshments’, or helping someone who’s really in need.
And I can’t think of any other area where it’s so common to receive above and beyond levels of customer service. Michael Briere at wakawai.com just sent me a new set of thigh braces, a t-shirt, and some stickers all for free. I had never even met or talked to him before; he just saw my BT post that I needed some SCUD thigh braces. I’ve gotten similar good service from Jackson Kayak and others.
I know there are some bad apples out there and a lot of folks on BT that like to bitch, but for the most part, we’ve really got it good.
Does anyone have similar (or opposite) experiences from other markets (like skiing, cycling, climbing, etc)? |
