note low water LRC New

Well I guess I can attest that LRC does indeed run down low.

Got up yesterday at 7am for the drive down to LRC.  Takes 3 hours but we were stalled here and there.  Finally got on the suicide section about 12:30 central for a run down to powell trail at -2 or so on the gauge.  Surprisingly all rapids run at that level, although some were mighty tight.

Some of the highlights were:

Dropping off the second drop of cable falls sideways so as to land in a 2 foot wide slot with a face high rock made of a combination of barnacles and 50 grit heavy abrasive sandpaper on your left.  Stupid move, but very do-able.  The left hand entrance slot is nasty as well.  Spout don't run that low.

GP and crew moved some wood out of the left line at Mammoth.  Its open for bidness now but its a tight line, scout first so you know where that wood is.

Looking at (and passing on) the "line" at a low water avalanche.  I'll pass thank you.

Running terminal eddy at low water.  Disgusting rapid as proved by SB.  I've never seen anyone do tumbling cartwheels on a dry line before.

Even at low water, humpty dumpty is good fun.  One of the best rapids I've ever run.

Roadblock is real tight down low, but becomes an autoboof

And finally, down on the chairlift section there are some decent rapids.  Bottleneck is a lot of fun and there were some good slotty moves.  Very surprising.  Powell trail is a great spot to take out.  Trail is way easier than that retarded chairlift hikeout.

Back home at 11:15 pm and asleep by 11:17pm

Couldn't imagine a much better sunday, well unless there was more water in the river.  Don't know that I'll ever make the day trip for -2 again but if I lived nearby I'd be there everytime.

th_up I kinda prefer the low water lines at both drops of cable... much more skill involved than the high water lines <NT> granolapaddler New
note and most likely you'll still tag that big rock (2nd pic) Philcanoe New
