Swelling of tendons, usually aggravated by exercise. The knot thing is a bit of a puzzlement, as tendons don't usually swell that much. FWIW, ganglion cysts don't come and go. Tendonitis does. Ice will help, as will ibuprofen or aspirin to reduce swelling. Long-term, if this is what you have, you're going to have to back off for a while to let the swelling go down, and do some gentle exercise and stretching to build strength in the area to handle the load you want to put on it, or figure out what works better.
I'd see a doc to confirm, and then get a referral to a PT.
Swelling can also indicate an infection, a tumor, and a few other scary things, so it may be safest to show it to someone who knows what they are doing. |
