Either is fine, the 4 cyl gets about 1-3 mpg more, but the 6 is a fair amount stronger.

Subaru fours are geared quite "short," so that cruising in 5th is like being in 4th. Car never lugs, just poke the pedal

The accelerator will lag a bit due to the drive by wire but its predictable so no worries.
