the extra bucks in a drytop. I find I'm just as wet in the GoreTex drytop as I was in the non-breathable one I used to own. (I bought the GoreTex drytop because it was on sale for very little more than a conventional one) The water seems to wick it's way up under the drytop so my poly/fleece is usually soaked.
