You can more efficiently transfer body heat into the loft of a sleeping bag naked than clothed.  Moisture has its roll in sleeping bags too.  If you have sweaty clothes on when you climb in your sleeping bag, the moisture will cool and transfer the cold to your body.  Both are good reasons to sleep unclothed in sleeping bags....but the bag has to be sized right as well...the more space that you have to warm, the higher the chances are that you will get cold in the middle of the night as your heart rate slows and your body produces less heat.  Thats a good portion of the reason that mummy bags are so much warmer than larger rectangular bags.

All of that being said..........sleeping tandem with a nice warm boater chick curled up next to you cant be beat!
