I have a very nice "breathable" drytop...top of the line by a major manufacturer of whitewater gear.  I've only used it for two seasons...low use at that...and cannot stay even near dry.  First time I roll I get doused like there is a 3" rip in the top.  Cleansing and DWR...tried it...lasted about half a day.

question Can the membrane in breathable equipment tear without the outter shell tearing? hardboater New
note Yes... jkodadek New
smile Well, in either case, I guess I'll be sending mine back to the manufacturer for repair or replacement. hardboater New
note I'd wash & dry it first, then refresh the DWR. <NT> tcookson New
