Seriously, have you used a goretex top?  I don't care what you can find on the web.  Are they achieving maximum theoretical vapor flux across the membrane?  Probably not.  They do however, still breathe.  Breathable fabrics actually work very well in normal kayaking environments, wet or not.  I don't need someone to explain that to me.    It's  a fact I've proven on countless occasions.  These sentiments are fairly uniform across people with experience.  If the search function actually worked on Boatertalk, this could be verified.  Among people who have used both extensively, most will tell you they'll never spend money on a coated nylon top again.
