Google eVent Compression Dry Sack and you'll see that they are already making compression bags that don't need a purge valve because the air will pass through the eVent fabric but the water won't.  I'm not saying this happens quickly.  Apparently it takes some time to get the air molecules to pass through the membrane, but the point is that it does occur!  If you check out eVentfabrics.com for some good animations about the fabric's breathability and anti-cat-ability.
