I've done the 'wet hand' gore-tex glove thing. My business partner's bro works for Gore and brought a glove on a visit. All I can say is that my hand (and everyone else that tried it) dried fast enough that it was freaky. It doesn't take long at all and it comes out dry. There's no way my hand was re-absorbing that much water in that short of time. It's an impressive demo, maybe gimmicky, but it gets one's attention. Temperature difference is key.
One thing about Gore is that they have very strict quality control standards about how their product is used, especially with seaming, which is the weak link with just about any garment. I don't have any wp/breathable boating wear but the g-tex jackets I have serve me well in the winter mountains. My next drytop for cold water boating will be some kind of wp/breathable. |
