OK, now that I have you attention ....

Look at this web page and make an informed decision as to where the Cheoah falls on this scale. John Kobak, the Keelhaulers webmaster, is going to add it to this page and wants to get it in the right spot. You can just add a message or send me an email.

note @ 1000 cfs probably 28-29 - Def not 30 - Numbers and Top Yough I would put above Cheoah cbkoontz New

note If people are looking for a fool proof rating system, they are in the wrong sport... RUwet New
note There's no fool proof rating system, but I think they have advantages. SciFisch New
note ok, you tell me how this more complex rating system helps you know more about the cheoah.... RUwet New
note Pretty much all you need to make it down any river environment in the SE: bankfull1 New
note Nothing can substitute for actually seeing the run SciFisch New
th_up No doubt the rating system is beneficial information.  Just some people rely on it too much, that's all i'm sayin'. RUwet New
disagree Lower Gauley easier than Upper Ocoee no way! <NT> monkeywrencher New
th_up No joke. That is just plain wrong and inaccurate HarrisonMetzger New
note I think the LG is easier than even the regular ocoee. I take people to the Ocoee first because it's roadside, but janedoe New
note 30 <NT> SciFisch New
more Rapids aren't that tough, but it's long (Especially when it's 30 degrees F and snowing. I might be biased.) <NT> SciFisch New
sad familiarity breeds contempt thumper New
feedback It is really hard to compare the Cheoah to a lot of those rivers cheoahman New
note at  850 or 1000 cfs, 28 or 29.  At 1600 or above, 30 or so. peterelkon New
note not as hard as 5 falls at 1.8 and up . .. ralf New
smile The Chatooga is like home to me, so I may have underrated it. peterelkon New
note I've only done it one time, recently, at 1000 cfs (I think - is that the Sat release level?) and here's my 2c GRITS New
disagree You need to get rid of the class VI rating on that scale. <NT> Pinecricker New
note Don't know the appropriate number, but it doesn't belong in the class V category.  Not one rapid on it is class V. <NT> curtis_elwood New
note this reminds me of my ongoing discussion of difficulty green vs... tonyvarvoutis New
note I'd agree with that. Skully New
note Triple crowning to me is way more intense than running everything on Overflow. bankfull1 New
note didnt you see the disclaimer? Skully New
note Don't have to worry about the green coming up quickly?  didn't paddle mothers day then, huh? RUwet New
