Lower Green = class I to II.
Upper Green = class II to III
Middle Green (Narrows) = class IV-V.
the Green is a creek, generally a little smaller than the Nantahala. The Upper is very beautiful but requires a 3/4 mile carry out. The Green is reliably dam controlled, about 3 hours from Atlanta. Call 800.829.5253...A Tuxedo release from 7 a.m. to noon generally indicates a runnable water level, while a midnight to midnight release generally means insufficient water. See info on different sections here:

The Dirty Bird (Pigeon) is probably 3.5 hours from Atlanta. It is a larger river with class II-III+ rapids and not the greatest water quality, but loads of fun. It runs noon to 6 p.m. Saturdays during the summer as well as Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday on roughly the same schedule. Easy shuttle and beer sold at the takout.
