My comments on the Cheoah were based on the fact that the Chatooga is drop-pool, and the serious rapids on the Cheoah are long and continuous, with some pretty serious holes.  It's been a while since I've run the Gauley, but I think the LG, particularly Mash and PSH, would be an apt comparison.  I remember more flatwater and more frequent pools on the Gauley, tho.
