Ocoee Olympic section is roadside and a few hundred yards long. Even counting the rapids above and below the Olymnpic course the upper is maybe four miles long and has  maybe two class IV rapids (Humongous and Roach Motel) and another four or so that might be Class III-IV.

The Lower Gauley is like 12 miles long, remote and inaccessible, begins and ends with two large Class IV+ rapids and and has numerous class III-IV rapids spaced throughout the run. It also has a few of the same undercut sandstone formations and seives that make the Upper so dangerous. There is no way the Upper Ocoee is harder. The Upper Ocoee is a warmup run for the Lower Gauley.

note I think the LG is easier than even the regular ocoee. I take people to the Ocoee first because it's roadside, but janedoe New
