My almost 10 year old will don a PFD and helmet and happily swim any class II (and some III) rapids -- she loves everything I taught her from SWR (she even tries to swim ferry and catch eddies).

But I can't get her on moving water in a boat -- just flatwater.

Based on the one river trip we DID go on where she paddled her own boat, I know to not even TRY to push her. So I'll let her take it at her own pace. The hormones just starting kicking in a few months ago, so I know it won't get easier :)

Maybe we should take up river boarding :)
