Mike coaxed the corp into releasing a little water this weekend for a Swift Water Rescue class and it was SO nice. We had 210cfs on Saturday and about 230 on Sunday.
Props to all his crew who helped out, he had a good size class. And those of us who did nothing but boat couldn't have been happier. We've been talking about that 200 or so number for low water releases with the corp for quite a while. But this weekend we were actually able to show them that a little bit of flow will bring folks from over 200 miles away. While meetings and studies and polls help, nothing proves the point quite like photos of 30-40 kayaks lined up on the riverbank at the take out. There'll be a follow up story in the local newspapers with pics which of course will be forwarded to the Indian Chiefs who can make these things happen.
Again, without Mike's effort, we'd just be talking. Thanks and great job!
